Identification of the Mixed-Symmetry One-Phonon-21,ms+-State of 202Hg — •Ralph Kern1, Robert Stegmann1, Thomas Möller1, Norbert Pietralla1, Georgi Rainovski2, Christian Stahl1, Marc Lettmann1, Robert Janssens3, Mike Carpenter3, and Shaofei Zhu31Institut für Kernphysik, TU Darmstadt — 2Faculty of Physics, St. Kliment Ohridski University Sofia, Bulgarien — 3Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL, USA

The IBM-2 predicts excited nuclear states of anti-symmetric proton-neutron character, so-called mixed-symmetry states (MSS). MSS probe the effective proton-neutron interaction and are suitable to study the two-fluid properties of atomic nuclei. The 21,ms+-state can be identified by its large absolute ⟨21,ms+||M1||21+⟩≈1µN. Recently low-lying one-phonon 21,ms+-states have been identified for the first time in 204Hg and 212Po, which exhibit a valence alpha (hole) particle structure with respect to the double magic 208Pb. 202Hg has 4 valence neutron-holes and 2 valence proton-holes, which leads to a similar boson structure like in 204Hg. Therefore a projectile Coulomb-excitation experiment was performed at the Argonne National Laboratory in order to identify the 21,ms+-state of 202Hg. The emitted gamma-rays were detected by the Gammasphere spectrometer. First results will be presented. Supported by DFG Pi 393/2-3 and BMBF 05P12RDCIB and 05P15RDCIA.
