Jet Energy Calibration in CMS with Z+Jets events — •Thomas Berger — Karlsruher Institut für Technologie

Jet Energy Calibration (JEC) is a fundamental task to precise measurements in particle physics. Correction factors to account for detector effects and to translate measured energy depositions into the energy of the originating particle jet are derived from both data and simulation. After introducing the basic calibration steps of CMS, a detailed description of the workflow with Z+jet events is presented that is performed in Karlsruhe as part of the official CMS jet calibration task. The latest status on this most precise channel for the absolute jet energy calibration will be reported.
