AKjDPG: Arbeitskreis junge DPG

AKjDPG 2: PhD Focus Session: Biogenic spin phenomena (joint session MA/AKjDPG)

Mittwoch, 3. April 2019, 09:30–12:40, H38

Theranostics, magnetoreception, bioinspired, biogenic and biohybrid advances - this symposium is focused around the diverse interdisciplinary field of spin phenomena in biology. From individual cells to large complex organisms nature employs magnetic effects. Be it magnetic sensing or future prospects for computing technologies, biology can teach us many examples of complex mechanisms, which can be mimicked by magnetic systems or directly harnessed from biological organism. Additionally nano-sized magnetic objects can be introduced into the body and used as carriers for drug delivery or as a mean of contrast for imaging organs. These and many more inspiring topics will be covered by our invited speakers from various branches of this large research area. The Symposium aims at an interdisciplinary audience, featuring tutorials and overviews alongside new insights and groundbreaking results. Especially young researchers are highly encouraged to participate. A panel discussion at the end of the symposium gives an ideal opportunity to get in contact with the experts, address specific questions and form a future perspective for Biomagnetism.

Organized by: Iuliia Novoselova (U. Duisburg-Essen), Thomas Feggeler (U. Duisburg-Essen), Irene Iglesias (U. Duisburg-Essen), Nico Rothenbach (U. Duisburg-Essen), Teresa Weßels (Fz-Jülich and RWTH Aachen), Benjamin Zingsem (U. Duisburg-Essen Fz-Jülich).
