Quantum Computing: Empowering the Quantum Revolution — •Damian Steiger — Microsoft QC Engineering

Quantum computing takes a giant leap forward from today's technology---one that will forever alter our economic, industrial, academic, and societal landscape. In just hours or days, a quantum computer can solve complex problems that would otherwise take billions of years for today's computers to solve. This has massive implications for research in healthcare, energy, environmental systems, smart materials, and more. In this talk we briefly introduce the concepts behind Quantum Computing and Quantum Information Theory, give an overview of the Microsoft approach and investments in quantum computing and how it differs from other approaches. We will also talk about first applications of this revolutionary technology with customers from research and commercial segments.
