Synonomous genetic code optimization takes advantage of the fact that aminoacids can be encoded by different nucleotid triplets. It attempts to influence the translation process by synonomous substitutions to alter characteristics such as the protein expression.

OCTOPOS.jl is the reimplementation of the java desktop applicapion OCTOPOS in the julia programming language as a web application.

OCTOPOS combines detailed mechanistic mathematical modeling of in-vivo protein synthesis with machine learning to predict protein expression levels based on codon choice and can generate optimized synonymous mRNA sequences for enhanced heterologous gene expression in different host organisms.

The aim of this reimplementation is to enhance the accessibility of this tool for the community.
