We show that the transverse-mass and rapidity spectra of p and π± produced in Au-Au collisions at √sNN = 2.4 GeV can be well reproduced in a thermal model of particle emission from a spheroid single freeze-out hypersurface. This scenario extends the one used by Siemens and Rasmussen in the original formulation of the blast-wave model by allowing for elongation or contraction of the source. We incorporate a Hubble-like expansion of QCD matter and resonance decays.
