Translating Attitudes: Design and Evaluation of Interventions based on Research Findings for Physics in the 10th Grade of Cypriot Lyceums. — •Theodoros Aslanidis — Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth Cyprus

This presentation details the pivotal transition from diagnostic research to practical educational intervention within the context of Physics education in Cyprus.

Drawing on extensive quantitative and qualitative data from my recent doctoral study on 10th-grade students' attitudes and beliefs towards Physics, initial findings revealed persistent challenges. These include entrenched perceptions of the subject as rote memorization, perceived high difficulty, and a general disconnection from real-world applications.

The crux of this work lies in the design and rationale of an evidence-based teaching intervention specifically tailored to address the identified challenges.

This presentation delineates the structure of the multi-week intervention, the theoretical framework underpinning its development, and the rigorous methodology planned for its subsequent evaluation.

Ultimately, this presentation aims to demonstrate a pathway from empirical academic findings to effective classroom reform. The outcomes will provide tangible, data-driven recommendations for curriculum development and teacher professional development in Cypriot public schools, with the goal of significantly enhancing student engagement and foster a lifelong appreciation for the science of Physics.
