Quantum Dice: An Open Source a Haptic Analogy for Teaching Quantum Entanglement — •Bart Folkers, Aernout van Rossum, Alexander Brinkman, and Kirsten Stadermann — University of Twente, Enschede, the Netherlands

We developed an open source electronic analogy designed to simulate quantum physics (QP) concepts, including quantum entanglement. This electronic analogy consists of two 3D printed dice with embedded electronics and small displays, collectively referred to as Quantum Dice. Quantum Dice supports a range of educational scenarios, from basic entanglement demonstrations to quantum key distribution experiments. In this presentation, we share insights into the design and development of Quantum Dice. We also report on their implementation in diverse educational settings. In addition, we situate the project within ongoing educational design research in quantum education, in which we investigate what teachers and students need to work effectively with haptic analogies. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with Quantum Dice prototypes, explore integration into their own teaching, and discuss how such analogies support reasoning about abstract quantum phenomena. More information is available at ut.onl/quantumdice.
