We investigate the superconducting properties of the needle-like compound NiBi3 by electrical resistivity and specific-heat measurements down to low temperatures. Both probes reveal a superconducting transition at a critical temperature Tc = 4 K, with an upper critical field Hc2 = 4 kOe. High-pressure resistivity measurements up to 20 GPa show that Tc decreases linearly with pressure, which is consistent with phonon-mediated superconductivity. The temperature dependence of the electronic specific-heat is well described by a single-gap s-wave model. In conclusion, these experimental results demonstrate that NiBi3 is a conventional BCS superconductor.
