The Institute of Safety and Risk Sciences (ISRW) at BOKU University in Vienna conducts research across a broad spectrum of nuclear risks: from the effects of nuclear explosions and the dual-use nature of nuclear technology to strategies for radioactive waste management. This poster highlights ISRW's work in nuclear security through exemplary projects: One is estimating the cascading consequences of a single nuclear detonation at an air base near Austria's borders: Other projects analyze potential human-intrusion scenarios in and safeguards mechanisms for a deep geological repository of high-level radioactive waste.
