We report on first measurements of the complex conductivity of Tl2Ba2CaCu2O8 (Tl-2212) thin films in the frequency range from 100 GHz to 2.0 THz at temperatures from 25 to 300 K carried out by time-domain terahertz transmission spectroscopy. In the superconducting state, the commonly known behavior of the complex conductivity is observed at temperatures down to 77 K. At lower temperatures a conventional two-fluid approach with the normal-carrier fraction considered to behave according to the Drude model with one frequency independent quasiparticle scattering rate fails to fit the measured conductivity spectra. This behavior cannot be explained neither in the framework of the BCS analysis as well so that additional e.g. dielectric losses should be considered. For the treatment of our data we used empirical formulae based on the modified two-fluid model with frequency-dependent quasiparticle scattering rate.
