The effect of Cu substitution by Mn in 2223-Bi based HTSC — •A.S. Sidorenko1,2, E.-W. Scheidt1, F. Haider1, I.I. Geru2, L.A. Konopko2, and R. Tidecks11Augsburg University, D-86159 Augsburg, Germany — 2Institute of Applied Physics, MD2028 Kishinev, Moldova

The effect of the partial Cu-Mn substitution in the superconductor (Bi1.6Pb0.4)(Sr1.8Ba0.2)Ca2(Cu1−xMnx) 3O10−δ

was studied by resistivity, d.c. susceptibility, and ESR measurements. Samples were prepared by solid state reaction method with partial substitution of Bi by Pb and Sr by Ba for the high-Tc 2223 phase stabilization. XRD analysis confirmed the presence of the 2223 single phase for samples with x = 0 and x = 0.02. In samples with 0.02 < x < 0.2 some amount of 2201 phase was found. No ESR signals related to paramagnetic ions were observed at room temperature in all investigated samples.

Computer simulations of the electron powder patterns for 2223 lattice with Cu substitution by Mn in Cu-O sheets and in Cu-O pyramids were performed.

The d.c. SQUID measurements demonstrate bulk superconductivity of all samples with nearly no change of the Tconset = 107 K for 0 < x < 0.2.
