The first- and the second-order perturbations effects have been investigated to refine the values of gI and gJ -factors of europium ion from the high precision HFS and Zeeman splitting measurements in the Penning trap [1]. The method of calculations, which has been applied here, is based on effective operators approach [2]. With relatively small number of experimental data this allows to take into consideration not only the effect involving the states belonging to ground fine structure levels but also (to some extent) to account for the contributions causing breakdown of J as a good quantum number. Finally, treating gI and gJ -factors as free parameters, their corrected values are extracted by iterative fitting and diagonalization of the effective Hamiltonian HFS and Zeeman matrix.
