Many Body Effects in Phototemission: The quasi-1D system Br on Pt(110) in comparison with High-Tc systems — •Alexander Menzel, Rebecca Beer, and Erminald Bertel — Phys. Chemie, Univ. Innsbruck, A-6020 Innsbruck

We present an extension of earlier ARUPS measurements on clean Pt(110) and Br/Pt(110) [1]. The Br/Pt(110) system is low dimensional and thus shows pronounced many body effects in several aspects of photoemission. The data of the (1x1) (high-temperature) phase and the c(2x2) and (3x1) phases (T < 400K) are compared with recent ARUPS data [2,3] of High-Tc cuprates. There is a striking similarity including dispersion (flat bands), renormalization (self energy), momentum density n(k), and overall temperature and momentum dependence of the spectra. The observed anomalous features can be consistently interpreted, if spin-charge separation is assumed. Support by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) is gratefully acknowledged.
