Nanostructure evolution of injection moulded UHMWPE during heating — •Norbert Stribeck1, Benjamin S. Ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is injection moulded under high pressure and studied by ultra-small-angle X-ray scattering (USAXS) during melting in a time-resolved synchrotron radiation experiment[1]. Results concerning melting and recrystallization of crystalline lamellae are compared to data obtained by differential scanning calorimetry. USAXS analysis[2,3] reveals a coupled process of melting and crystallization that is not accompanied by external heat flow.
