Reptation dynamics of short entangled polymers - DMRG studies for Rubinstein-Duke models — •Matthias Paeßens and Gunter M. Schütz — Forschungszentrum Jülich, 52425 Jülich

The scaling of the viscosity of polymer melts is investigated with regard to the molecular weight. The influence of the boundary dynamics on the relaxation time is investigated. We also present two modifications to the Rubinstein-Duke model which take constraint release into account and calculate the effects on the viscosity by the use of the Density Matrix Renormalization Group algorithm (DMRG). The rate of constraint release is determined in a self consistent way.
