Multiresolution wavelet analysis applied to heartbeat intervals has been shown to be a potential clinical tool to discriminate healthy patients from those with a cardiac pathology [1]. In our work we discuss an alternative way of analysis by deliberately removing the heart rate variability and by studying measures for the similarity of electrocardiogramm (ECG) segments (R-R intervals).
We furthermore investigate the robustness of the results with respect to wake and sleep periods.
