We investigate the low energy spectrum of an effective intra- and inter-ladder charge-spin Hamiltonian for the quarter-filled ladder compound NaV2O5. The Hamiltonian consists of two coupled quantum spin-1/2 chains and is given by:

The low energy spectrum of this model is explored by exact diagonalization for small system-sizes and using the Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) technique for larger system-sizes and for some limiting case using a self-consistent Mean-Field approach.
