Current voltage characteristics of SNS contacts in a microwave field — •Oliver Rösch and Reiner Kümmel — Institut für Theoretische Physik und Astrophysik, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg
We solve the time-dependent Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations analytically for a superconductor-normal metal-superconductor (SNS) contact, where in addition to a dc voltage bias there is also an ac voltage drop resulting from microwave irradiation. After constructing quasiparticle wave packets we calculate current voltage characteristics in a relaxation time model.
Besides Shapiro current peaks (including subharmonic ones) there appear
also satellite structures to the subharmonic
gap structure due to photon-assisted multiple Andreev reflections. Compared
to other approaches [1,2], a finite normal layer
width and the resulting retardation effects are taken account of
explicitly.
