Copper, aluminium and IF steel were severely deformed using the ECAP (equal channel angular pressing) technique. Microstructure and texture evolution after ECAP processing were determined by transmission electron microscopy and neutron diffraction, respectively. Strength and ductility were investigated as a function of the number of pressings.

A dislocation density based constitutive model combined with crystal plasticity was shown to be in good agreement with the experimental results obtained with regard to microstructure and texture evolution and the mechanical properties of the ECAP–processed materials.
