Angular correlations in sequential two-photon double ionization: A theoretical analysis — •Stephan Fritzsche1,2, Alexei Grum–Grzhimailo3, and Nicolai Kabachnik31Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies — 2GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GmbH — 3Institute of Nuclear Physics, Moscow State University

Recent experiments with intense ultraviolet (XUV) radiation sources, such as high harmonics or free electrons lasers, has opened the pathway for studying a variety of non-linear processes with atoms and molecules in the XUV regime. Among these, the two-photon double ionization (TPDI) has attracted much interest since it enables one to explore in detail the transition from a ‘sequential’ towards the ‘simultaneous’ emission of two electrons. In this contribution, the sequential TPDI is analyzed for the np2    (n=2,3) ionization of noble gas atoms. Theoretical results [1] are shown in different computational models and compared with recent experiments. In addition, we also analyzed the angular correlation function, as measured by experiment [2], if the two photoelectrons are detected angle-resolved and in coincidence.
