A method to create nanocomposites of Ag nanoparticles in a plasma polymer matrix with tailored optical properties is presented. A beam of Ag nanoparticles with tailored size distribution is created in a magnetron discharge gas aggregation cluster source and combined with a plasma polymerization process of Hexamethyldisiloxane in an Ar/O2 atmosphere. This process will lead to incorporation of the Ag clusters into the plasma polymer and to formation of the desired nanocomposite material.Variation of size, distance and amount of the Ag nanoparticles allows to tune intensity and wavelength of the silver plasmonic resonance over a broad range. Thus optical properties can be engineered for a desired application. Characterization of the samples with a focus on optical properties was done by TEM, EDX and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
