The Hybrid Photon Detector is the first device of its kind and is capable of single photon detection with high spatial (6 µm) and temporal (20ns) resolution. We measure the quantum efficiency of this novel device using the Klyshko calibration method utilising the correlations of photon pairs emitted by parametric down-conversion source. This well-known method can be considered absolute, because it does not rely on any standards or references. We also suggest some intriguing applications for such a device in quantum optics.
