MAGIC Observations of Gamma Ray Burst — •takeshi toyama for the MAGIC collaboration — Max Planck Institute for Physics ,Munich, Germany

Gamma Ray Bursts (GRB) are the most energetic transient phenomena in the universe after the Big Bang. Some properties of GRB have been demonstrated by great pioneers. 1.They occur at cosmological distances. 2. There are two different population of bursts in terms of the duration of the prompt emission : One is less than 2 sec long (named short GRB) and the other is more than 2 sec long (named long GRB). 3. Some of the Long GRBs are related to hypernova. 4. A long-lasting emission at lower energies (the afterglow) is observed up to days after the prompt phase. However, GRB is not a well-understood phenomena yet. The MAGIC telescopes have good chances to detect GRBs, because of its low energy threshold ~50GeV and the ability to repoint to any source location within 25sec. MAGIC has an effective area that is ~1000 times larger than that of Fermi-LAT at 50GeV, which might be very valuable to understand the extreme physical processes occurring in GRBs. Emission more than 10 GeV is observed by Fermi-LAT in ~20% GRBs. In the conference I will present results from recent GRBs observations performed by MAGIC.
