Positon Sensitive Scintillating Muon Detector with SiPM Readout — •Alexander Ruschke, Ralph Müller, Johannes Grossmann, Ralf Hertenberger, and Otmar Biebel — LMU, München, Deutschland

A scintillation detector with a two-dimensional position resolution of a few mm and Silicon-Photomultiplier (SiPM) readout has been further developed.
Position resolution in one direction is achieved by separation of the rectangular cross section into two trapezoidal sections of the plastic scintillator. Each trapezoid is optically insulated against the other. The amount of light produced by through going particles is proportional to their path length and thus position dependent. The position resolution in the perpendicular direction is determined by the propagation time of the light within the scintillator. In both trapezoids the produced light is collected by wavelength shifting fibers and guided to a double sided SiPM-readout.
In this talk we present new results for the improved position resolution of the trapezoidal scintillating detector.
