In the recent years wavelet analysis has been established as a tool in nuclear structure physics. For an analysis of the fine structure in the energy region of the Giant Dipole Resonance the wavelet analysis allows the extraction of scales [1] and level densities [2] from scattering data. In a high-resolution experiment the 120Sn(p,p’) reaction was investigated with a 295 MeV beam scattered under zero degrees at the Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP) in Osaka/Japan [3,4]. The extracted scales and level densities will be compared with various theoretical predictions.
