Cascading decays of nucleon and delta resonances with the CLAS detector at JLAB — •Stefan Diehl, Kai-Thomas Brinkmann, Eric Gutz, and Mariana Nanova for the CLAS collaboration — II. Physikalisches Institut, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen

A rich variety of nucleon and delta resonances with cascading decays into hadrons (i.e. Δ** → Δ++π → pπ+π) are predicted by different relativistic quark models and lattice QCD calculations in the mass range above 2 GeV. The CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) at Jefferson National Laoboratory (JLAB), Newport News, Virginia, provides an excellent opportunity to discover such resonances. In this contribution, the search for cascading nucleon and delta resonances in the reaction γp → Δ** and γp → N** with photon energies between 3.0 GeV and 3.8 GeV based on a resonance scan and on the angular distributions of the pions, will be presented. The analysis is based on an isolation of isobars (e.g. Δ π) in the dataset via Dalitz plots. The obtained subsets are then analysed with respect to cascading decays of high-mass excited states. Due to the high statistics provided by the g11 dataset of CLAS, resonance scans could be performed with a high accuracy. In addition, the status of the search at lower energies, which enables a cross check to earlier analyses, will be presented. As an outlook the focus will be set on the search for hadrons containing strange quarks, which show cascading decays with, for example, Kaons in the final state. *S.
