Studies of pT vs. Nch in pp collisions at s = 5.02 TeV with ALICE — •Mario Krüger for the ALICE collaboration — Institut für Kernphysik, Goethe-Universität Frankfurt

The ALICE experiment at CERN-LHC is designed to study the properties of a hot, deconfined QCD matter, the so called Quark-Gluon Plasma, which is created in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. This study is complemented by measurements in proton-proton and proton-lead collisions as a reference. In proton-proton collisions one can especially investigate effects of multiple-parton interactions and hadronization beyond independent string fragmentation.

The transverse-momentum spectra of particles produced in the collisions can be characterized by their mean-value ⟨ pT ⟩ and variance σ as a function of event multiplicity. Due to detector effects, the measured multiplicities differ from the actual particle multiplicities Nch.

In this talk, we use a Bayesian unfolding procedure exploiting the correlation between measured and true multiplicities known from MC simulations. We present ⟨ pT ⟩ and σ of inclusive charged particles as a function of the multiplicity Nch in pp collisions at √s = 5.02 TeV within a pseudorapidity range of |η| < 0.8 .
