Performance of the upgraded MAGIC LIDAR system — •Christian Fruck1, Dominik Müller1, Martin Will2, Markus Gaug3, Razmik Mirzoyan1, and Masahiro Teshima1 for the MAGIC collaboration — 1Max-Planck-Institut für Physik, München, Germany — 2Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias, La Laguna (Tenerife), Spain — 3Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain

Since 2011 MAGIC observations are supported by dedicated, continuous and pointed measurements from a single wavelength micro-power LIDAR system for measuring the transmission of the atmosphere in the observed direction. Transmission information is now available by default for data quality selection and can be used for spectral corrections. The old LIDAR system was optimized for low and medium zenith distance (Zd) operation and to minimize the impact on MAGIC observations by using a pulse energy of only 5µJ. As MAGIC is now also regularly conducting observations at Zd > 45 deg and in order to further improve the overall accuracy of the system, several components including laser, detector and readout have been upgraded in two steps during the past two years. During this talk I will summarize all modifications and highlight the performance of the upgraded system.
