Beyond Quantum Literacy? Educating for an Interconnected World — •Zrinka Stimac — Leibniz-Institut für Bildungsmedien, Freisestr. 1, 38118 Braunschweig
This lecture presents the preliminary results of the interdisciplinary project “New Humans, New Thinking? Quantum Technology as a Challenge for Education.” The project analyzes from a humanities and social sciences perspective how education systems are responding to the increasing presence of quantum technologies. The findings on epistemology, subjectivity, and ethical issues raise the question of whether and how quantum philosophical perspectives can contribute to enriching the future of school education. The study goes beyond the teaching of quantum competence in STEM subjects and examines whether concepts such as indeterminacy, entanglement, and relationality can provide new impetus for interdisciplinary learning. Theoretically, it draws on the work of Karen Barad, Ernst Cassirer, and Lev Vygotsky. Rather than calling for concrete pedagogical changes, the presentation opens up a space for reflection: Could the conceptual framework of quantum theory contribute to thinking differently about teaching, learning, and understanding the world? Building on UNESCO’s vision of knowledge convergence and future skills, the presentation asks what it means to design educational concepts for a networked, nonlinear, and complex future.
